CLASS DESCRIPTION
In this advanced course, composer-lyricists and composer-lyricist teams will draw upon a range of musical theatre songwriting techniques to take one of their existing musical theatre scores-in-progress to the next level of craft and artistry. Through a rigorous process of presenting, dissecting, and rewriting songs, they will incrementally find their way into and through a new draft of their musical. Participants will also offer constructive feedback to one another as they share work, creating a supportive and responsive environment in which to develop new skills and take risks. For composer-lyricist teams, both collaborators must be present to participate. For all participants, completion of at least a first draft of the musical they will be developing in class is required to participate.
